Nickelodean Website Encouraging Bad Behavior?
I try to really keep this blog all about having fun and making money with our network.
However; I know many of our bloggers have kids and in fact the kids are a big reason many of you do work with Payu2blog. I wanted to let you know about a story I hadn’t heard much about. Nickelodean apparently has links to some games that encourage some pretty bad behavior among kids. Apparently Nick was linking to addictinggames.com and promting it heavily on manyof their sites. They have recently removed the links on some of the sites for young children (amazing that they were there at all) but still seem to use early am tv time to promote this site.

Here are few examples right from the website of just some of the “FUN” they are promoting.
“AddictingGames.com: Stick Figure Penalty Chamber 2: “Small, black, stick figure death can happen in so many different ways! Do you choose shotgun to the face, or acid in the lungs?”
• Naughty Classroom – “Hot for teacher?…Here’s your chance to fulfill your ultimate childhood fantasy. Naughty Classroom will leave you begging for more homework.”
• Dark Cut 2 – “More macho surgery! No anesthetic. No antiseptics. Just rusty knives, corn whiskey, and lots of blood!”
• Foxy Sniper – “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful. Fear me, because I am a crack shot! Assassination isn’t just a job; it’s a way of life.”
Here are some pictures of the games:

It’s your choice but if you are offended by this please let them know.
Here is a link to the article about Nickelodeon I read which has even more information…
Sorry to have to take a break from silly, dorky and dumb posts… but I know many of you have kids and like me, may be shocked to learn that NICK maybe isn’t so kid friendly.

Thank you for sharing this. I noticed that there are violent games. Would you agree that even Tom and Jerry is violent sometimes or most of the time?

Anna,
Tom and Jerry hitting each other with mallets and is one thing….
addictinggames.com offers games where you peep on your neighbor in the shower, cut people up to inflict as much pain as possible.. and another where you are a sperm traveling in woman’s body.. with a moaning in the background.. Those are bad on a whole nother level and are another matter entirely.. wouldn’t you agree? I think there is really no comparison to Tom and Jerry here.

wow. just WOW.
That is horrible, why on earth would they think that those are OK games for kids?

Thank you for sharing. We don’t watch Nick but I have let my kiddos get on Nick.com. This won’t be happening anymore. I assumed this was good website
This is really discouraging to know.

Yes, there I saw some of these horrible games so I stopped letting my 4-year old browse Nick websites unsupervised.

Nick Cannon took over as CEO of Nickelodeon, and when he did, he made massive changes to the tv channel line up and the website.
He is the one who bought addictinggames.com and neopets.com, which my youngest used to play. (he played neo pets)
Anyway, he bought several gaming websites and is making millions of dollars for Nickelodeon.
As for all of the violent games, I agree, they are way too violet for young children to play and have access to on the website.
Yes, Tom & Jerry, even some of the old Bugs Bunny cartoons, the road runner was always extremely violent, all of them were very violent, but like you said, on a totally different level than the games available on the Nickelodeon website.
If I had small kids, they would not be allowed on the Nickelodeon website at all, but both my sons are much older now so I don’t monitor them as much anymore, but I would not allow them to play the naughty teacher game or the peeping tom game, no way!!

I’ve seen my nephews and son played stick figure once and that was it. I find it really violent so it has to stop. I prohibited them from playing it again and that’s it.
You’re absolutely right, not kid friendly at all.

maybe it’s time Dora and sponge bob leave nick compound!
thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this info, although Nick channel website here in Canada is different from what they have there, but I will keep an eye on those and put them in my block list filter so my boys will not “accidentally” click on them.

by the way, I shared the link you posted in my FB’s wall.

oh wow! That is seriously messed up, I can’t get over Nick would promote something such as this! Wow and they wonder what is wrong with our kids today!
June 18th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
Oh boy! not good. Im glad my kids prefers to watch the disney channel and hi-5 children musical show. they should banned that. its not a good influence to the children

Whoa! Holy cow, those “games” are disgusting. My son used to go to addictinggames, but quit because he said there were some “bad” ones.
Why do they target kids the way they do?!?! Well, I guess we all know why.. kids grow into adults with money… all very sad.

Thanks for letting us know about this Tony! I’m one of the ones who thought Nick.com was safe enough not to have to monitor. But not any more!

THANK YOU! Nick and MTV are one in the same, so I’m not nearly as surprised that Nick would be caught “unawares” by their careless cross-linking to sexual & violent ‘games’. I’m actually shocked none of these are shows on Cartoon Network yet. haha!
Then again … who knows if it was careless… music videos for preschool kids (on ‘Noggin’) was not an accident. Naturally those kids will crossover to the music videos suitable for their age group. Viacom’s goal is to influence us all via cradle-to-grave programming.
I’ve seen very little from them to lead me to believe they care about the mental or emotional health of our children.
