A Story to Pay attention to

August 23rd, 2010 by Tony

We purposefully avoid political talk on this blog because I recognize that people have many view points and really what brings us all together  is “love of blogging”  and “making money” .

However Please look at this story its on of few I have seen lately that hopefully does not point to a trend of discouraging bloggers and also affiliate marketers ( ala legislation regarding payments from amazon etc in some states) … either from writing certain things or discouraging the little guy from trying to improve their lives by making money independently.  Moral of the story.. pay attention and vote for people that will protect your individual liberties and your right to earn a living. :)
It seems one city has taken it a step further…Tax the Little guy.

I read this and was disgusted.

They tried to pass a similar thing in my town last December. The city council didn’t announce their intentions and just passed an ordinance and it was then reported in the newspaper. It would have required everyone from paper delivery people, baby sitters, and bloggers (essentially anyone making money doing anything) to purchase a business license. The fee was based on the business earnings. People wrote the newspaper and bombarded the city council meetings and they repealed the ordinance by the next month! They said that in light the current “economic climate” it was decided to not burden people economically at this time. I am sure we will see it at a later date once again.

That was awful and disgusting. Are they that poor to ask bloggers in that place to pay $300. blogging is not even considered a business it’s just some hobby to share your thoughts.

I can’t imagine they’ll collect a dime on this. It’s just their way of censoring all the voices who disagree with them. Do you think they’ll try to shut down bloggers who think everything is going peachy-keen in Philly? No way. But will they target bloggers who have beef with the mayor or the powers-that-be in Philly? Probably. Just pathetic.

Wow.. that’s insane. I don’t know of ANY paid blogger who has $300 lying around.. they can’t stand to see people making a little bit of money that they’re not in on.

OMG! Lord, please help. I cannot have a child yet because we do not have enough, how much more if I cannot yet save for it or at least, having some additional income with my husband. Lord, help. No to $300 lifetime license or a $50 yearly yet. :( Just give it to big income brackets!

    GREEDY bastards!

  8. Says:Gen

No to $300 that is too much. Bloggers earns a bit from this and that but it doesn’t mean blogging is the main source of income.

    Hoping for a NO…No.. Please!

I read that awful news and even share it on my FB. I was like, WTH! they were thinking about!!??.
I don’t understand why they are so in bloggers while there are so many sellers online who doesn’t pay taxes but earning thousand of $$$ thru website.

I hope they’d reconsider. Some bloggers who do paid posts don’t even earn as much as $300! How can they afford that?

  11. Says:Trish

    Wow…is the lemonade stand next?
